As part of the celebration program launched by King Abdul Aziz University (KAU) to mark its 50th anniversary, the Faculty of Marine Sciences has organized a number of activities including a symposium on “the Prospects of Future Employment in the Field of Marine Sciences” and a concurrent exhibition which was opened by KAU Deputy Dr. Abdullah Ibn Mustafa Mahraji at King Faisal Conference Hall on Thursday 14/07/1437H. The symposium aimed to enlighten students on the job opportunities waiting for them after graduation and the training opportunities made available to help them develop their hands-on skills.
The second meeting of the Faculty of Marine Sciences’ Advisory Committee, involving 11 public sector and private sector organizations, was also held on the sidelines of the above-mentioned activities. The General Commission for Survey (GCS), who is a member of the Advisory Committee, was represented at the meeting by its Branch Office in Makka Al-Mukarrama Province.
The symposium on “the Prospects of Future Employment in the Field of Marine Sciences” was addressed by GCS Acting Director General of the General Department of Human Resources Mussad S. Al-Makas who spoke briefly on the GCS , its objectives, responsibilities, its past and future maritime projects, available job opportunities and its future plans for attracting graduates of the Faculty of Marine Sciences qualified in the specializations needed by the GCS.
The GCS stand at the concurrent exhibition was used to showcase its products and projects.
