Under the patronage of H.E Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority Bandar Al-Khorayef, the Saudi Geological Survey will hold a signing ceremony and awarding four contracts tomorrow with international experts and consultants, who will work with the Authority in the implementation of the projects of the General Geological Survey.
The official spokesman for the Saudi Geological Survey, Tariq Aba Al-Khail, stated that the general program of the geological survey aims at this stage to survey about 600 thousand square kilometres of the mineral-rich Arab Shield, located in the west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Aba Al-Khail stated that the Geological Survey General Program initiative is one of the most important initiatives of the comprehensive strategy for mining and mineral industries emanating from the Kingdom's 2030 vision, which mainly aims to maximize the added value by exploring mineral resources in the Kingdom, and achieving optimal utilization of them while developing mining investment, so that the mining industry sector becomes the third economic pillar in the Kingdom, according to the mining strategy and the national industry development and logistics program, explaining that the team that will undertake the management, supervision and implementation of the projects of the General Geological Survey is represented by cadres and scientists of the Saudi Geological Survey and advisory cadres from global governmental survey bodies and private companies that have long experience in regional geological surveys that target large areas and are usually carried out by governments, which ensures - God willing - achieving the desired high quality of the outputs of this program.
